Our Park

Our beautiful park features a playground, lawn, basketball and a tennis court, as well as community garden plots.

The Boston Parks Department most recently renovated Titus Sparrow in 2024. The Parks Department installed new play equipment, updated sports courts, and lighting as well as rehabilitated the lawn and improved drainage throughout the park. Orange fencing will remain up through Spring 2025 to protect the grass as it regrows.

The lights are on demand between dusk and 9pm between April 1st and November 30th.

A fun and safe space with modern play structures for children to climb, slide, and explore, offering endless fun for families.

Garden Plot Availability

Titus Sparrow Park has community gardens available to neighborhood residents.

The 15 public garden plots are assigned on a space-available basis only to those without a plot in any other public community garden. Gardens must be kept clean and in good condition.

The annual fee is $30, to be sent by May 1 to:

For those able to contribute more, the Friends of Titus Sparrow Park kindly requests an additional $70 donation per garden plot to support our ongoing efforts, bringing the total to $100.

Guidelines for Garden Plots

Gardening in Boston’s public parks is a privilege.

  • Gardens must be kept planted, weeded, and trash-free so as to enhance our park entrances. Garden assignments are for one year.

  • Garden assignments are renewed annually. Gardeners must notify the coordinators by March 15 each year whether you will be keeping your garden or giving it up.

  • A garden plot showing no evidence of being worked by June 10 may be forfeited and allocated to the next gardener on the waiting list.

  • Gardens must be cleaned for winter by October 30.

  • Hoses can be found with the water supply at the end of each section; gardeners must provide their own tools.

  • Plants must be maintained within the confines of your plot. Plants should be kept trimmed; roses and vines shouldn’t cascade into the next garden.

  • Organic gardening methods are preferred in your plots – organic fertilizers and no chemical weed killers or insecticides. Many excellent organic fertilizers are as simple to use as the chemical ones. Espoma is one company that makes a very effective organic fertilizer.

  • The Parks Department requests that fall-cleanup plant material be put in paper bags and left beside park trash cans.

  • Please consult the garden coordinators before adding fences, or other structures. Harvest regularly to discourage theft and please do not pick from a neighbor’s plot.

  • Pets are not allowed in the gardens.

Park Guidelines and Rules

Please help us keep our park a beautiful resource by following the guidelines below

  • Playground. Follow the recommended ages for the playground equipment. Use Boston Citizens Connect App or call Parks Hotline: 617-635-7275 to report broken equipment. Keep wheeled vehicles (bikes, scooters, skateboards) out of the playground area. Call the District D4 Police if you suspect any illegal or unsafe activity: 617-343-4250.

  • Trash. Put trash in the waste barrels. Use Boston Citizens Connect App or call Parks Hotline: 617-635-7275 to report overflowing barrels.

  • Dogs. Have your dog relieve him/herself before entering the park. Please do not let your dog defecate on the grass where people sit and play. Keep your dog on leash, pick up after your dog, and restrain barking. Enjoy the dog water fountain at the cross paths.

  • Basketball and Tennis Courts. The courts are open from 8:00am to 9:00pm. Court time is limited to one hour for practice or play. No pets on the courts.

  • We rely on the community to report issues. Who can I call if I see a problem?
